World Maps - Arctic Antarctic

Arctic Antarctic - The Arctic lands belong to several states: Canada, the United States, Finland, Norway, Russia and Sweden, whereas several countries have laid claim to territory in Antarctica to no avail, considering the United Nations' stance on this issue.
The Antarctic peninsula is partially made up of volcanic chains, and several volcanoes are still active. The Arctic polar region includes the fringes of the continents that surround the Arctic Ocean.
Obviously, the prevailing climate in these regions is extremely cold as the direction of the sun's rays is influenced by the earth's axis, notably on winter nights, the sun being absent for several months at a stretch during this season.
